Pleats and leather are everywhere now, but pleats and leather together? I got really excited when my Mom told me she was able to get me a pleated leather skirt during her trip to Paris last month. Told ya she gets me the best pasalubongs! And this particular set of pasalubongs is the best yet. Reason why I'm very happy and inspired now. Haha. My necklace and belt are also from her. But no, I'm not wearing head-to-toe outfit from Mom. I have personal inputs in this outfit too! Haha. Anyways, aside from clothes and accessories, she also got me the most beautiful set of printed fabrics and lots of magazines too!! My summer collection will just be my most colorful and most printed collection ever! Prints and colors to the highest level! I'm just sooo exciteeedd!!! YAY!! :p

Hello you all!! With the temperature rising even higher this summer, here's another summer trend I know will be over used- light cape+sexy top+floral shorts. This kind outfit will definitely keep you fresh and vibrant. When going to the beach, you can wear your bikini top or monokini with this cape and floral shorts plus flipflops. Or on a casual day at the mall this ensemble could be paired with cute flats. Of course I just had to wear heels this for this post. Haha. Anyway this cape was used by one of my bridesmaid models for my Wedding Belles fashion show last December. This design will be part of my summer collection (released in March) but this time, the capes will also be available in printed fabrics. I just thought of reviving this design since it's too summery. :p

It's almost summer and I know for sure that colors will go popping here and there in no time. So to officially start off, here's an outfit that's exaggeratedly colorful. I'm a color baby so I know I won't have a hard time adjusting and transforming my closet into a summer wardrobe. So I guess I'll just have to exaggerate most of the time?? Haha.

I'm releasing part 2 of my retasso accessories collection later and these bubblegum necklaces will be part of it.. Please watch-out for it. I'll have another generation of fringe and bow necklaces too.. :)

A Little Princess

Bows, pearls, velvet, and lace remind me of one thing- my all time favorite movie, A Little Princess. I can't remember how many times I watched that movie but I used to watch it with my playmates over and over again. And every time I watch it, I cry. Haha. And my favorite line?

Techno Tribal Collection

Hey everyone! As promised I posted my newest collection for Binkydoodles here in my blog first. I apologize for the one day delay though. If you've been watching the news, you probably know what happened here yesterday. Iloilo was one of the provinces hit by the earthquake yesterday. What was unusual was that the aftershocks came in very short intervals. Since last year, we've been experiencing earthquakes here but yesterday was the scariest I've experienced so far. But anyway, I'm really thankful that no damages were recorded here in our province. Let's all just keep praying for the safety rest of the Philippines and the rest of the world. On a lighter note, here are the photos for my Techno Tribal collection! The shoot came on a short notice but I guess we managed to work it right, thanks to my team! Guess what? My collection will be out earlier than expected! I had no team yet for my photo shoot yesterday- no model, no photographer, no make-up artist, the clothes weren't even done yet. So I contacted my friends and organized my team and after a few minutes of being stuck in thoughts, I decided that we push through today because today's the most ideal time for it. I'm such a busy-unorganized person but I'm really thankful I have friends who are always ready to help. Anyway, here are the teaser photos to my Techno-tribal collection. Here's another generation of headbands/turbans you'll definitely love. I went through all my scrap fabrics and found lots of beautiful stretch ones (plain, printed, lace, knitted). It was a very wise decision that I kept my retasos though they're already piling up in our backyard. Haha. I'm currently in the middle of creating more combinations so I hope you'll check back again soon when the collection's out. I'll be selling these pieces for only P150 each!! That's cheap enough huh? For now, here's a little sneaky peeky for all of you... :)

I think I've always managed to insert making hair accessories every now and then for my shoots, and even fashion shows. I guess headpieces have always been a must whenever I style for other people. I seldom wear hair accessories because I just don't think I look good in them but even in my wedding projects, they're always part of the package. And I just realized that while writing this! AHA!

I've been dreaming of that perfect sequin shorts in either copper or rust orange since November of last year. I've seen few designs in Forever21 but the fit didn't seem right so I just let it pass. But it was love at first sight when I saw this skirt a month after when I came back to Manila. Though it's not the exact thing, it's the closest to what I've been looking for. But again, I found excuses in my head and didn't buy it. Weeks passed and I still can't take the skirt off my head. So when my friend told me she was at Forever21 in Cebu, I asked her to look for the peach sequin skirt. Good thing she found the skirt! So when I got it, I told myself I should save it for a something special. This was my outfit last night at the Republiq Dinagyang party in Plazuela. I'll post pictures during the event when I can grab good ones... :)

My hair has always been in a dark shade and this is actually the first time I tried a lighter shade. It's still dark but definitely something different. My camera isn't good enough though so you won't be seeing the real color of my hair now. I also had it chopped a few inches to remove the split-ends. So what do you think about my new look? :)

First Look

As I've said in one of my previous posts, the only thing I want to do this year is to be better that what I've been. So that means I should also pressure myself to do better blog posts. And to be able to come up with better posts, I should exert more effort to beautify myself, i should wear more interesting ensembles, be more creative, and of course, I should pose a little bit more too. Fresh Start

People who know me personally know that I'm a very low maintenance/"jologs" person. I'm very easy to get along with, "mababaw lang ang kaligayahan" and not "maarte" at all... I'm usually just ok with anything and everything and never too conscious about how I look. I rarely wear make-up and I only do when I really need to although I feel like I should always find time to fix-up because events just pop-up here and there. So for a fresh new start, I'm now on my way to up-grading my beauty kit.

Here's what's inside my beauty kit, both old and new:

Ever since I watched the movie No Other Woman, I've been obsessed with lipsticks and now I'm trying to collect different colors. I like colors that are unique. I'm also attracted to those that are nicely packaged so that explains why I usually get the ones with nice cases. Haha! :)

(MAC, Revlon, Face shop, Etude, Clinique, Lancome, Maybelline)

Aside from my beauty kit, I also bought new accessories. I try to upgrade my fancy jewelry box every once in a while so I could mix and match the accessories that would compliment my clothes. I don't like wearing too much accessories though because as I've said, I'm low maintenance and most of the time "tamad" to dress-up.

As for my reference materials, aside from the internet, I look into these magazines to get inspiration. These magazines and books are from my Mom's trips abroad.

I'm currently finishing my supposedly December collection so I could release it very soon (by the weekend, i hope) so I could start with the next. I'm really excited to start working on the next collection because it's going to be a mix of solid colors and Techno-tribal inspired prints!!!!

The Reunion

Ever since I can remember, my family and I always spend our Christmas vacation in Zamboanga del Sur where my Lola and Lolo lives. It's the only time of the year that we can all live together in one house so we all make it a point to come home for the holidays. It has also been our tradition to have a family picture every year. Our family pictures were never too formal though. The previous years, we were just in our favorite "pambahays". This year's just a little different because my Mom assigned me to do a project for all the girls in the family. She asked me to design dresses for everyone so I agreed to do the project. It's not like I didn't have a choice, because I really wanted to do it. I was actually excited to dress everyone up. A bit challenging because I had to consider their ages and personalities as well. I had a week to work on all 14 dresses since all the fabrics used were hand-picked by my Mom from Brunei and I got them just a week before we left for Mindanao. I was in a rush so I made sure the designs were just simple and easy to do...

And so, this is my 1st ever family project.. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :)

Hey everyone! Before anything else, I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas! I'm currently in Mindanao celebrating the holiday season with my clan, hence the title of this post. As my friend said, "this is the season to be chubby". And I couldn't agree more! I've been here for just a few days but I feel like I've already gained a few pounds.. GGRRRR! But I think you all can relate. Diet is not a word in this world during this time of the year, right? I hope though that we're not forgetting that this season is not just about gifts, parties, and get togethers but a time for all of us to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and a time to for us to share love, blessings and just be thankful for what we have. My Bestfriend's Wedding

Ever since we were kids, my friends and would I always make guesses on who would get married first. When we got a little older and some of our friends started getting married, we'd talk about who would be next to whom. But when my bestfriend Nychill first told me that she was getting married soon, I was shocked a bit because I didn't expect she would be next. At first I somehow had doubts about her decision. Or maybe I was just trying to deny it. We've been best buddies since high school and it was sort of difficult for me to let her go knowing that she'd be living a whole new life and that she's set to live in another country. But who am I to question her decision? I knew deep inside that even though I had doubts at first, she knew what she was doing.

The other day, I saw how my bestfriend's dream wedding came true. I tried my best to stop my tears from falling while she was walking down the aisle, but I failed. The event was intimate yet so meaningful because the people who mattered were there to witness their union. Visitors came all the way from the different parts of Malaysia, London, New York and the other parts of the Philippines. I saw how Gary's family and friends were so supportive and loving to the couple. And with the short time I was able to spend with Gary (I first met him when I was in Kauala Lumpur a few months ago), I was able to say how great he was with the way he and his company was. All of them were very nice, friendly and not to mention funny. I can just sit with them for a few minutes and feel like I've know them for a long time. That's how warm they are. Knowing that my bestfriend is going to be with a nice company gives me no reason to worry that she's going to live far away from her family and far from us, her friends. I know in my heart that she's in good hands. Yesterday was just so magical that if you were there during their big day, you'd stop asking why it all came fast. Their love story is one you'd only think you'll see in movies. And I'm just the happiest seeing my bestfriend marry the man of her dreams. :)

To the newly weds, you both know we'll all travel with you to your journey to forever. I wish you the best in your marriage and may God always shower you with blessings. Maligayang P***t-g**a!" Love you both! :)

Whenever I'm too lazy to dress-up or whenever I have a lot of errands in a day, I usually wear shorts. I feel more comfortable wearing shorts than long pants, if you still haven't noticed. And this ripped and washed cut-offs are one of my favorites. I wear this pair a lot of time because it goes well with anything. :)

This bag is another "pasulobong" from Paris (thanks Mom)! Another addition to my big and roomy bags.. Just perfect for my travels.. Yahey! :)

For this certain look, I just love how my top and skirt go so well together! The colors and the details, I just feel like they're the perfect match. Though I know I can still wear these items separately in so many ways. I decided to wear native accessories and shoes with this look to also match the aztec print on my skirt. I fell in love with this pair at first sight so I bought it right away.. I love the structure, the cheetah print detail on the heels and I'm really happy that it feels comfortable considering the height. I originally wanted to buy the platform mary janes Anne Curtis was wearing in one of Primadonna's ad campaigns but it doesn't look good on me. I'm short you know, and I don't want to look like a walking "barko". And I can't compromise just because I love that certain style. I won't be giving justice to that beautiful pair if I force myself into it. Haha.

Because of the success of my garage sale 2 weeks ago, my I.,C2 friends and I are planning another one this Saturday and Sunday. This time, our venue will be in Guimbal. And because most of my special items got sold 2 weeks ago, I'm going to add a few more to my closet items. I will be adding a new set of items so that our visitors will have something to look forward to. All my items will still be priced P10-300!!!

Inspirations and New Creations

It's been two weeks since my last blog entry and I don't know why it took me so long to update. Maybe because I didn't get the chance to have my outfit shots taken in the past 2 weeks. And second, I haven't bought anything new yet so maybe that's another reason. Haha. I'm going to start filling my closet with new things again so this is going to be fun! But I have to wait until my Manila weekday trip next week as choices here in Iloilo are limited. So anyway, moving on to this blog entry, I'm going to give you clues regarding my holiday collection. I mentioned in my earlier post that I'm not going to use my usual super colorful and super printed fabrics. Expect knits, python and retro-tribal prints, chiffons, sequins, and metallics this time! Garage Super Sale

It's this time of the year again when I have to sort my closet into two groups, first group be the things that I'm still using, and those that I think I'd still be using next year (mainly my basics and "pambahay"). The 2nd group on the otherhand, futher divided into 2 groups, are the things which I have not used for months and won't be using anymore plus my over-used clothes which I give away to those in need. Sorting of our clothes before the year ends is actually a family tradition but since I've collected so many beautiful clothes over the past few years, I decided to do my own garage sale to dispose my favorite clothes. This year will be my 3rd, and this will be the biggest so far. It's not that easy for me to let go of my clothes but I'd prefer my favorite pieces to be useful than pile them up inside the closet. This year, almost 50% of my closet will go to my garage sale to give way to new stuffs next year (major wardrobe change here)! HAHA.

Trend Report: Polka Dots

Dots have suddenly been everywhere lately. Does this have something to do with the coming holiday season? For whatever reason it's back as a hot trend again, I'm lucky to have found myself that perfect dotted top. I got this over-sized top from my favorite thrift shop along with this salmon pink culottes. Who says you have to go to the trendiest stores to get trendy clothes? Haha. I decided to wear this very comfortable ensemble on an ordinary day spent at the mall.

I'm leaving for home soon and I'm off to start another collection.. My holiday collection that is! And guess what? The collection will be flowerless! Secret Garden by Binky Pitogo (Wedding Belles Fashion Show)

The moment I was invited to participate in this bridal event, I already knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to showcase a collection that would clearly show my personal design aesthetic. I wanted to use a nicely printed fabric since I've always been so attracted to beautiful prints, and matched with crochet details instead of the usual bead work. Although the designs just came along while I was already in the process, the garden theme I had in mind was clear from the very start. I'm lucky to have found the perfect fabric. Without second thought I picked this fabric the moment I saw it. I also designed matching accessories to complete the look of my models so I had these gloves and extra flowers crocheted. Aside from the accessories, I designed matching cover-ups for the bridesmaids and cape for the bride to keep that conservative look. The bride's cape also served as the train of her gown.

I feel so lucky having been given the opportunity to participate in this event. My preparations were not as complete as the others since it was my first time but I definitely learned from it. I had this chance to push myself again and I'm proud of all the hardwork I put in to come up with all this. Of course, I would not be able to do all these without the creative hands of those who worked for me. And I thank the Lord for all the blessings and great opportunities that have come my way. I'm also very thankful and happy that I have my family and friends to back me up in everything. And of course, to my gorgeous models who came with me all the way from the other side of Manila to Alabang. I also would like to thank the organizers of Wedding Belles, SoFA, my fellow designers from SoFA, Jing Monis Salon and all the other sponsors. THANK YOU all and may God bless you all always! :)

Wedding Belles Booth

Here are the pictures from our booth at the Wedding Belles Bridal Fair held last Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 5-6, 2011) in Alabang Town Center. This is actually my first time to join a bridal exhibit so this experience is another wonderful learning experience for me. I shared the same booth with SoFA and 5 more SoFA alumni designers. The New Vintage

Ever since I started realizing how thrift/vintage shops can be so cool, I've gotten myself hooked to it that whenever I'm in Manila, I make it a point to drop by my favorite thrift/vintage shops. But since I've been stuck here in Iloilo for almost a month now, I only get to check my Mom's closet for great vintage pieces. One reason why I really love her clothes is because they're always made of rich, nicely printed fabrics. But again, the problem is, we're not the same size. Uuuhhh-oooh! So I just had to do some magic to make her blouse useful again..

High-low skirts were first seen at the runway shows of Alexander McQueen and Lanvin. Also known as mullet skirt, this particular skirt is mini and maxi, or mini and midi, or midi and maxi hemlines combined..

My current favorite, Jason Wu's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection.

Now, here's my take on this sexy new trend. This design will be available in Binkydoodles soon. This is just the sample and I'm going to improve it so that it becomes a wrap-around, overlap, free-size skirt and I'll be using a better fabric! I hope you'll watch out for it. I apologize for the poor picture quality though.. I can only wish for a new camera.. Boohooo!

I think I've mentioned a couple of times in my previous posts how I super love this girl (I hope I don't sound like a "tomboy" though- HAHA). I love how she can wear anything and look good in whatever she puts on, I love how she's so driven with whatever she does, and how she's such an inspiration to a lot of young girls out there. I remember the first time I saw her in person while we were in the same store at a certain mall. I really wanted to approach her but I was too shy so I just looked at her from a distance (stalker much? haha). The second time I saw her was at a school event, she was surrounded with a lot of friends (some of which I also know personally) so it was akward to approach her. The 3rd time, was at fashion week where it's ok to have pictures with fashion icons and celebrities so there... I finally had the courage to approach her. HAHA. So being her big big fan, it's a dream come true to see her in my designs/creations..

Trend Report: Printed Pants

If you've been reading my blog posts since way way back when I just started blogging, you're probably familiar with the next picture. But if you haven't seen this picture yet, then let's do a little back tracking. This pale blue trousers was my project for our midterms back when I was taking up my pattern making and sewing subjects at the School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA). This outfit is actually one of my 1st looks for Lookbook.

So now moving on to the present, I was able to use the same old pattern for another pair of trousers. But now executed in a different design and in interesting prints. Yes, this design will be available in my coming collection. And here I am, trying my best to model just to give you a sneak peak of my next collection. Haha.

It may look like this outfit was my inspiration for my look below, but NO. I actually found this picture just a while ago while I was searching for images to add to my post. So what do we have in common? Lace top and a bodycon skirt, obviously. Haha. But well, the difference is, my look is the LOOK FOR LESS.

Wedding Bells Ringing Soon

Remember the fashion show I've been talking about in my previous posts? Yes' I'm only a month away from the event and I'm only getting more and more nervous as I get a day closer to it. This is going to be my first fashion show so that's enough reason for me to feel this way. I'll be participating in this bridal event along with a hundred other exhibitors from different fields, all wedding related. I, along with 5 other SoFA (School of Fashion and the Arts) graduates and other designers, will be having a fashion show for the event. I wore this top the day we left Singapore but since we were rushing the whole time, I didn't get the chance to have an outfit shot with it so.... TAH DAH! I just love the kitty prints in this oh so conservative looking top so I had to find a way for an outfit post. I chopped-off my bangs too as suggested by my dear bf (he thinks he knows better, then fine). HAHA. Also, I'm gathering positive energy since I'm working on a lot of things right now. The fashion show, wedding projects,other minor projects, Pinky Binky and my October collection for Binkydoodles. I can't believe it's almost October and I've got so much lined-up in the coming months. I really should consider planning and sorting out everything before I go cramming when all the major events come.

Liz Sampson of Late Afternoon. I'm thinking of cutting few more centimeters from my bangs so I can achieve this look. What do you think? Haha.

SG Day 3 and 4: Universal Studios

The highlight of our day 3 was our visit to the Universal Studios. We explored Sentosa first then we went inside the Universal Studios. We took pictures in all corners because we wanted to make the most out of our entrance fee because we didn't dare ride the roller coasters. If we were in a larger group or if I was younger, I would've been braver. But with Au, I can only be more "nerbyosa". HAHA.

We met-up with Norey after her work.. We went to Bugis, AGAIN! Last minute shopping, huh? :)

Before we finally went to the airport, we met-up with another friend who's also working there. Although our time together was short, we all had a nice conversation about travelling and our dreams of seeing more places in the future. I felt kind of sad leaving SG but i'm taking home with me positivity as I look forward to our future trips. :)

SG Day 2: City Tour

On our 2nd day in Singapore, our friend Norey had work so we had ourselves to discover the city. The good thing is that it's easy to go around the city just by following the train stations. The main attractions in the city is close to the train stations so we didn't have a problem going around by ourselves. We spent the day at the famous shopping street, the Orchard Road where high end brands and reasonably priced brands go side by side.

Inside the Ion Orchard mall, we discovered this really cute shoe/accessories store which sells very affordable but fashionable goods. Again, I bought one pair and I even convinced my friend Norey who wasn't there with us to get a pair so we could avail of the buy 2 and get a discount promo. She didn't say yes but I decided to get her the same pair I got for myself. When she saw the pair, she loved it that she even changed her shoes right then and there ! Hahaha. Oh yeah, I got the discount! Visit The Little Things She Needs Facebook account and you'll see what I mean. :)

My friend Irene who also happened to be there on the same date that we were there, met up with us so we got to spend the afternoon together. She went there for a dragon boat race with her team and they won 2 golds and one bronze! How amazing is that? Go team Philippines! :)

After going through the skirts of the orchard Road, we met up with Norey at the Marina Bay Sands. We were lucky enough to catch the fountain-music-lights show in front of Marina Bay Sands.. It was beyond AMAZING! :)

To end our day 2, we took a long walk just to have a picture with Merlion... :)

SG Day 1: Shoe Crazy

We arrived in Singapore at around 12noon so we met up with our friend Norey (who's based there) right away. We found out it was the last day of the Charles and Keith warehouse sale so our first stop was nowhere else but the Charles and Keith warehouse. We had to leave our bags and we had to freshen-up so by the time we were ready for the warehouse sale, it was already 4pm (and the sale was only upto 5pm of that day). Almost all the ladies we bumped into on our way there, had atleast a Charles and Keith paper bag (some were even carrying 5-6 huge paper bags) so we were really worried that we'd be left with nothing by the time we get there. So we decided to split into two groups. Norey and Au had to rush to the nearest money changer while I had to rush to the warehouse to make sure we make it there before 5pm. Can you imagine me running past through around 30 people in a short skirt and flatforms? Yes, I went running as if I was heading for the finish line. HAHA. That's how crazy I am. :p

When I got there I felt relieved because there was still a lot.. And I really mean A LOT! Although there were lots of people there, the stocks for the sale were enough to accomodate all the diehard shoppers. It was also there that I found out that Pedro and Charles and Keith were the same company. There was so much to choose from that after going around the whole area, I ended up buying 3 pairs of Pedro shoes, one pair of Charles and Keith wedges, and a sling bag. Here's how it looked like inside the parking lot where the sale was held... It was the craziest shoe sale I've been to in my entire life! Phew!

As if the crazy shoe sale wasn't enough, we went to Bugis right after. Bugis is like the Greenhills Tiangge of Singapore. There were lots of hip stores selling really pretty pieces from clothes, to bags to shoes. And again, Bugis gave me enough reason to go crazy, again!

After Bugis, we went to the Marina Bay area to have our dinner. Norey's treat at Just Acia. :)

Tomyum Pasta!!! Soo Yummy!

After our dinner, we went outside to have a view of the city. I almost cried upon seeing the city lights. It was so beautiful and I felt accomplised having been able to fulfill one of my many dreams. And it was there where it all sank-in.. I was in Singapore... :)

We spent the rest of the night just sitting by the bay, talking about culture and lifestyle differences, how we used to dream of travelling together, and finally our bigger dreams. Ambitious much, right? :)

Okay, I really don't know how to name this post but I want to share how pleased I was with our bus trip from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. With the amount we paid, the distance we traveled, and the kind of service we received, I'm more than happy and I admit I really enjoyed the experience. I slept for around 2-3hours during the ride but the time I had left before the ride ended didn't feel like another 2-3hours because I spent the remaining hours watching movies, eating and drinking white coffee, which were all part of their service. KL Minute

Our time in KL (Kuala Lumpur) was short so we had to maximize all the time we had to go around the city. We arrived there around 2pm but since the queue for the immigration was very long, we came out after an hour. As soon as we came out, we had coffee at Oldtown White Coffee while we waited for Gary (Nych's BF), whose flight from Kuching got delayed. We all came out of the airport at around 4:30pm. From the airport, we went for a 30minute drive to the city and went shoe shopping at one of our favorite shoe stores, Vincci (also known as VNC)!!! I got 2 new pairs since the brand is a local brand in Malaysia and it's a lot cheaper when you buy there. Reasons, reasons.. HAHA. We also took a stroll at the Pavillion Mall and after that, we went for a ride around the city. It was raining hard though so instead of posing in front of the twin towers right then and there, we decided to go up to Genting Highlands first. Then at Genting Highlands, we didn't have jackets with us so we almost got frozen up there (HAHA). We didn't get a good view of the city too from up there because it was already dark and very foggy. After our stop at Genting Highlands, it was finally time for us to go back to the city and have our picture in front of the twin towers. So we drove for an hour to go back to the city and by the time we got there, it was already past midnight. It was already around 4am when we got back, then to our dismay, the lights at the twin towers were already shut off.. Talk about cost cutting! Nyahahaha! Our bus ride to Singapore was at 6am and the sun rises in KL at around 8am so we decided to just have our pictures taken at the twin towers despite the lack of lights. It was good enough for us.. Enough evidence to tell our friends that we were in KL. HAHAHA.

Forever Young

I went through weeks long of stress (as always) but I'm still not complaining this time because I have so much to be thankful for. I don't mind working hard and being haggard most of the time because I know it all pays off in the end. I guess the reason why I'm always driven and happy with what I do is because I work hard for everything but I also reward myself accordingly. Or is this just my justification for being "gastadora" (HAHA)? Stress will always be there but it's really just how you handle your own personal time and how you invest in the little things that make you happy.Tomorrow, another self reward is waiting for me. I'll be travelling to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore along with two friends and we will be visiting our friend who's working there, and meet another friend who will also be there on the same date. My trips are always double purpose though because it'll be a research opportunity for me too. That's actually what I really love about travelling. To travel and see the world was also a childhood dream. So now, I'm also fullfuling it. :)

Earlier this morning, I met-up with Julia Montes. It was unexpected but she came to me and asked if I had more dresses because she needs a lot for her US tour. She'll be wearing more of my designs soon! It's my dream for celebrities to wear my creations on TV and Julia's my dream come true! I was really happy when she told me that people gave her positive comments when she wore the dress I sent her and up to now I'm still so "kilig"!! I'm just one of her many fans and being able to dress her up is a super plus for me.

Just a week ago I promised myself to stick to my shopping ban. I was seriously following it and everything actually just went fine until I stepped inside Jellybean's store last week while I was in Manila. The moment I saw this pretty pair of floral t-straps, I already knew I'd break my rule. I tried on the Jeffrey Campbell-inspired pair and boom! It was very comfomfortable that I was convinced that the pair was worthy enough for me to break my rule. Their Megamall branch didn't have my size, but they still had one in my size in another branch and they actually volunteered to pick-up the stock so I can get it from their branch the next day (special thanks to Au for picking-up my shoes). I was told that they only have 2 stocks per size, in every branch so I thought, If I wait until next month, they may not have my size anymore. So I made a very wise decision. And the lesson I learned? It's okay to break rules, especially when it's for this pretty pair! HAHA. And before I forget, I'm currently working on my September collection and it'll be sweet, and girly.. Just like this super pretty pair... I'm more than inspired... Wohhhoooo! ;)

Trend Report: Ombre

I know it's been a while since the Obmre trend came out as a fresh trend at Fashion Week and it even became a popular hair trend among Hollywood celebrities. But how I came-up with this look still has something to do with my resourcefulness. As I've mentioned in my previous blog post, I'm currently on a shopping ban and up to this day, I'm sticking-up to it. And I don't have plans of dropping my self-made rule until the month ends. So what's a girl to wear to a black and silver semi-formal party if all she has in her closet are colorful clothes and she's not allowed to shop either? Oh well, I survived my dilema somehow by accident or shall I say, coincidence. I've been thinking about what to wear to Kar Sison's 18th birthday since she already specified in her invitation that all her visitors should wear black or silver. So as I looked into my "baul" of fabrics for something useful, I was so happy that I had this gradient fabric. I bought it not so long ago during one of my trips to the famous "Palakpak" of Divisoria. I've actually forgotten about this fabric which I got for less than P50 a yard (what a great find!). I regret buying only 2 yards though but I thank myself for always stocking-up on random attractive fabrics. So anyway, here's the instant dress I made for myself. I had to do a simple pattern since I made the dress the day before I left for Manila. I'll post photos from Kar's birthday soon! :)

I've been very busy lately that I kind of feel drained right now but I'm really trying my best to retain positive energy since there's so much ahead of me. I'm flying to Manila again this Friday for another event and for an important client meeting. Anyhow, I'm really happy with how our preparations for the shoot turned out, even if the weather didn't quite cooperate with us. I've just worked with really amazing girls. Our photoshoot seemed like a typical dress-up game which little girls love to do. It's always fun working with people who are passionate about their craft. Mara Clara Invades Gandang Gabi Vice :)

Last night wasn't my first at ABS-CBN. My first time there was when I guested for the MYX Wer U @ show back in 2008. I can still remember how thrilled I was when I was told that we were going to tape inside the famous ABS-CBN ELJ building. I practically grew-up watching and following Kapamilya shows so my 1st time there was already such a big thing to me. My 2nd time there was another story. And that was for a bazaar which I signed-up with back in 2009. And my 3rd time which happened just last night, is an entirely different story. As I've mentioned in my previous blog, Binkydoodles will be one of Julia Montez's sponsors. So yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet her (thanks to her stylist, Kar Sison). Having been able to watch her guesting for Gandang Gabi Vice was a big plus. The opportunity was very timely because I just came back from my trip to Brunei and by Saturday I'll be off to Iloilo again. It was also a plus that I met her Mara Clara co-star Kathryn Bernardo. The two were really both polite and friendly. Oh well, I have to admit that last night was another starstruck moment for me (oh please forgive the jejemon in me), and another dream come true too. :)

Most of the people who know me personally are aware that when I started out selling stuffs online through my Multiply, I also designed accessories. Some of my works were then featured in magazines, and I even got myself on TV because of it. My bf/image consultant “kunu” suggested along time ago that I should change my profile description and include these things in my blog. And whenever he mentions that, I just tell him that I'll find the right time to insert it in my blog. Just a few days ago, my Adidas model and SoFA friend Kar Sison (now the stylist of a young TV personality), asked me if I could be her and her celebrity's “official sponsor” for accessories. Who would say no to that (I'll be spilling the details when the “official” becomes official)? And although I'm not officially selling accessories right now, I still do crafty stuffs every once in a while not just for myself, but also for clients who ask me on special requests. So I thought, maybe this is the right time for me to do what my bf has been asking me to do (LOL). :)

Fabric Shopping

I've mentioned a couple of times here in my blog how amazed I am with the fabric selection here in Brunei. As far as my love for prints and colors are concerned, this place has more than what I can handle. It's in this place that I've seen so many beautiful prints all at once. And now that I have my fabrics with me, I can't wait to work on my next collection. I'm also taking advantage of my trip here to find the perfect fabric which I'll be using for my 1st ever fashion show. Yes, I'll be part of a bridal fair in Alabang this November. And this will be another 1st for me. But anyway, since the event is still months away, let me just talk more about it next time.

Anyway, I have a funny story about my outfit here. When I came out of my room, my Mom disagreed on me wearing the red platforms with my outfit. She said I looked "baduy". I told her that once in a while I have to dress out of my usual style. After all, how can I dress other people if im not brave enough to trying things out. It also made me remember a certain instance when I was still young. We were off to a party, I guess I was about 9 or 10 at that time. My Mom usually allows me to wear what ever I want to wear. But that certain time, I came out wearing my heavily printed shorts, matched with a printed polo shirt. I remember how she emphasized that time that I should never wear print against print. I guess I was too colorful and heavy on prints that time, haha. But I think I insisted on wearing my original ensemble. Who would have thought that the print on print thing I tried out as a kid would turn out to be a real trend? Afterall, dressing-up is all about feeling confident about what you wear despite what other people think. So even if she disagreed, I stick-up to my decision. Mom still took my pictures anyway, so I guess I was able to convince her that I wasnt "baduy" at all. HAHA. By the way, this pajama was originally for my boyfriend. I made it for him but after finishing it, I thought it was too small. So I just made him another one, and kept this one for myself. LOL. :)

On another note, here's another recent project of mine. Remember the Alice in Wonderland inspired dress (read about it here)? My client, Ms. Ghe Galeno who has a wedding to attend to, wanted a dress that was similar to the Alice in Wonderland dress I made for another friend. I asked her if it was ok if I make her another design, with the new design derived from what she originally wanted. When she said yes, I asked her to choose from 2 designs and here's the design that made it. So now her dress is an Alice in Wonderland Inspired-Inspired dress (whhaaatt??). :)

Imperial Afternoon

I got really excited when my Mom told me that my friends and I can spend a night at the Empire Hotel. Resort wear here we come, I was just really excited! Unfortunately, when she called to reserve us a room, it was already fully-booked due to the Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition 2011 (BRIDEX). Talk about wrong timing, boooohh! But since it was the last day of my friends here, we decided to just go there and take pictures. One's trip to Brunei would never be complete without stopping by the Empire Hotel. My other friend, Cami had to stay home though because she was not feeling well. So anyway, Au and I went on with our pictorial. HAHA.

Mother and Daughter Bonding with Mother Nature

Aside from the shopping trips and travels I've had with my mom, the experience I had with her yesterday was really one of the best. She does not have work on Fridays so we had the whole day to spend together. From Bandar, we took the fast craft to get to Temburong, where we cruised the river for about 45 minutes. Then, from there, it took us another 30 minutes to travel by land to get to the rainforest resort. When we arrived there, we were accommodated by Izean (an attachment student), who later joined us as we trekked our way to the tree tops. What I've experienced yesterday was beyond my expectations. The scenery was really wonderful and movie-like. It was the best nature trip I've ever had and I'm skipping one blog post for this. :)

The clean river was so inviting that it made me wish I had extra clothes so I could dip into the water.

Meet the very friendly and accommodating Izean. We had coffee by the river before starting our "into-the-wild" adventure . :)

I've always dreamed of rafting into rivers so there I was, enjoying every bit of it. My Mom who sat in front of me took pictures of me in all angles. HAHA. :)

We had our toilet stop-over in one of the resorts before heading to the mountain of trees.

Here we go.. Paving our way to the top! We had to shed gallons of sweat to get there, talk about exercise! :)

We're now hundreds of meters above, yet that's not it. We had to climb these stilt towers to get our way up the tree tops, phew! :)

I love all kinds of adventure involving the water so the river portion of our trip was really my favorite! I really regret not taking extra clothes with me though. :(

To be able to cross a real hanging bridge was also a childhood dream of mine. This is yet another fulfilled dream. :)

This way leads to the waterfalls which took us another 5 minute walk. :)

Having my much needed fish spa by the waterfalls, how cool is that? Bye bye dead skin cells! HAHA.

Kampong Ayer

The highlight of our 2nd day in BSB was our trip to the water village, or what they call Kampong Ayer. I'm really amazed with how the people in this community live. Unlike in our country where we have people who reside "sa ilalim ng tulay" or river banks illegally, the Kampong Ayer is a legal community. This community is actually supported by their government and has been said to have existed for more than a thousand years. According to our guide, the community is comprised of around 25,000 people. In this community alone, aside from the clustered villages, there are 13 schools (both private and public), there are gasoline stations, there's also a police station, a fire station, mosques, clinics, etc. So basically, this community can stand on its own. They can also cross from one village to another through bridges or boats. But people who live here don't only stay in the water given that their basic needs are readily available here. They can easily cross from their community to the mainland through water taxis. Most of the people who live in the water village actually work in mainland Brunei. And since they can't take their cars to where they actually live, they just park their cars near the water taxi stations.

BSB with Friends

I waited too long for this trip to happen after the delays I had to go through to have my passport renewed. This is my 2nd out of the country trip with friends, and this time, our destination is none other than BRUNEI. This place is not an excellent place for shopping though. But I'm not here for that anyway. My original travel buddies Eleanor and Nychill are both out there somewhere so they were not able to join us. But we shall reunite again soon, and I am so looking forward to it. I won't spill our next destinations yet but it will unfold here soon. Although my BSB travel buddies are both home now, I'm really glad Au and Cami were able to join me... :)

I planned to wear heels on the day of our flight but good thing I changed my mind. So here I am, wearing my ever so trusty rain or shine flats (haha).

The main reason why I'm here. Okay, so the little girl in me is back. Bratinella alert. :)

Trend Report: Layering

Because of the very unpredictable weather, layering is one of the most useful fashion trends in seasons like this. And the key to successful layering is stocking-up on basics and cover-ups so when the need arises, you can just pick-up something from your closet and layer it with another.

Last Friday, my friends and I decided to take a road trip to San Jose in Antique despite the bad weather in Iloilo. It took us a one and a half hour drive to get there. Here's another layered look from my Lookbook. Wore this yesterday at the airport. I'm back in the Big Metro, yihee! Anyway, I usually wear layers whenever I travel because for me, it's the best way to stay comfortable.

Would just like to share with you how excited I am to wear my newest pair of platforms from Jellybean!! I've been in Iloilo for a month and I haven't bought anything while I was there. So when I arrived yesterday, the first thing I did was check Jellybean's big sale. I kind of feel bad though because the pink suede platforms I bought from their store before I came home to Iloilo is now on sale, 50% off huh! But anyway, the one I bought yesterday is part of their new collection. I'm just so excited to wear it!

Trend Report: Printed Shorts

I love prints, and I love wearing shorts too! So this trend is very me. This pretty tribal printed fabric was sent by my Mom from Brunei. I'm actually going to use the fabric for one of my clients but since the length of the fabric is big enough for what's needed, I cut off part of it to make my shorts (hihihi)!

peach long sleeve top, thrifted,

I'll be visiting my Mom next week! Yes, next week na! I can't wait to visit fabric stores, go shoe shopping at Charles and Keith or VNC (it's waaay cheaper there), and get my new pair of shoes from Mom's recent trip to Bangkok! A lot to look forward to, huh?
