Balance

Early this week, I did my 1st ever shoot for a local lifestyle magazine. I can't spill the details yet but I'll surely talk about it once it's out. I'm so excited that I just had to mention it. Obvious ba? Haha. My 1st 2 weeks of the month has been crazily busy since my family's leaving for our Christmas break by the end of the week and I'm supposed to finish all the work before we leave. It's sad that I had to turn down other projects just because we don't have enough time left. For me though, it's always important to keep the right amount of balance to be able to live a happy and healthy life. May you all enjoy the holiday season! :)

What I Wore:
denim polo from SM Department Store,
digital print skirt from Bangkok,
heel-less shoes from SoFab,
leather bag from Braun Buffel

Blue Sky

Now that we're nearing the holiday season I'm sure all of you are now busy shopping for gifts and of course, your outfits! Dressing up for this time of the year is actually one of the most exciting since it's the most festive season and therefore, it's also everyone's chance to put their best clothes on. The secret to successful holiday dressing always starts with choosing the right key pieces. For this particular look, I built my outfit around this digital print bodycon skirt. I think this skirt is a perfect item to start with considering that its print is very unique and a statement on its own. This skirt is actually very easy to style since you can wear it with anything depending on what kind of look you're going for. I can imagine this skirt paired with a plain polo shirt or a corset top. But since it's also the best time to wear metallics, I paired it with this tank top. I wanted this look to be edgy so I piled on spiked accessories and wore boots. Nothing can go wrong when you start with the right key piece just as long as you know what look you want to achieve. :)

What I Wore:
tank top, Forever21,
skirt from Bangkok,
boots from Nava,
random accessories

Vivid Dreams- Spring/Summer 2013 Collection by Binky Pitogo

When I applied for a slot to be one of the designers for the Iloilo Designer's Week, I already knew what collection I'd be showing. People who know about my RTW line (Binkydoodles), know how much I love prints and colors. So from the day I applied, my mind was already set to do a print on print collection. When I finally got in, we were encouraged by the organizers to do a collection that would clearly show our personal style and design aesthetics. That inspired me more to push through with my original plan. I believe my skills are still very raw so instead of doing a collection that wasn't my forte, I decided to stick with what I can do and what I know I'm good at.

Coordinate prints, digital prints, gradient colors, African prints, were the things I did a research on before I started making the clothes. As to the silhouettes, I balanced  soft and tailored structures to keep the girliness while maintaining sophistication and wearability. Structures were basically inspired by the 1950's but with a modern and sexy twist.

As a whole, my collection is a unique mix of different things. Colors and prints together seem to clash but they actually look good together. Structures are also rooted from end to end but still complimenting each other. Every piece in this collection reveals a part of me. This is my style, this is ME. :)

Sun-Shiny Day

Here's another ensemble that will keep you cool amidst the rising temperature. The secret to surviving the heat is wearing very light clothes. Summer outfits don't always have to be short to show much of your skin, they just have to be made with air-light materials. And so that's what my summer collection for Binkydoodles will be all about. I'll release it anytime next week. We'll have silk pants, pleated sheer mullet skirts, collared ponchos, over-sized tops, kimonos and capes all in light materials and in very interesting prints and colors. This digital print collared poncho will be part of the collection too! We'll be having only 3-4 pieces per design to make sure you'll have a unique wardrobe this summer. :)

Check-out the shell prints! :)

Would you believe that these bangles were my old creations from way back 2008? Neon accessories are just so hot now so I thought of reviving them. Haha.

What I Wore:
shell print poncho from Binkydoodles,
shorts from Forever21,
wedges from Charles and Keith,
sunnies from Cole Haan,
saucer bangles from Binkydoodles
