Morning Sun

If there's one thing I'm quite obsessed with right now, it would be back details. It's actually very evident in my recent designs for Binkydoodles. My love for back details started middle of last year but it just got stronger now that we're approaching summer. I wanted to try the trend myself so I had to take this dress with me to Boracay a few weeks back. This dress was just perfect for the morning sun. :)

Something New

Hello everyone! Have you noticed anything new? Haha. Yes, I'm talking about my now fluffy hair. I've been planning to have my hair digi permed since last year but I just didn't have time to go to the salon. My hair has been straight and long for the last 3 years so I though it was about time for me to try something new. The original look I had in mind was something similar to that of Kryz Uy's, long hair with big wavy curls. I told my hair stylist that but I just allowed him to do whatever he wanted to do with my hair. I think I was just too bored with my old look and I just wanted an escape that I wasn't even particular with the instructions about the look I wanted to achieve. My new hair style didn't turn out the way I imagined it but I actually liked it too. I think I just need to get used to this new look. Hehe. Anyway, on to my outfit, I'm wearing this pretty dress I bought in Bangkok months ago. I have not worn it yet so I decided to finally take it out of my closet. Besides, this thing is too pretty to be kept inside my messy closet. It was the perfect dress to introduce my new look too. Haha.

Bangkok Day 1

Hello everyone! I'm still here in Bangkok and here's what I wore the day we arrived. This outfit is something very comfortable yet hints of surprises can be found in the details. Take my shorts for example, they're just the typical kind of shorts except that it's made of gold faux leather. I can imagine wearing these shorts to events with heels but it can also be worn on casual days depending on how you style it. My top on the other hand looks simple in front but when I turn around, you'll see that it's sleeves continue as a cape at the back. And then the print on my bag, matches the print of my top, making it more interesting. And oh, the touches of gold matches my shorts too. Travel photos coming up in my next post.. :)

A New Beginning with Multiply

The people who know my story, know that Binkydoodles started when I created my account in Multiply back in 2007. At that time, I wasn't even officially out of college yet. I struggled with my chemistry subjects and was still working on my thesis so I could graduate. But deep inside of me, I was already worried about the kind of future I'll have if I stick to my course. I wanted to make a difference in my life but didn't know where to start. Little did I know that creating an account with Multiply would turn my life 360 degrees. It all started when a good friend of mine convinced me to create an account as she told me that there were already online sellers in Multiply. At that time, Multiply was just a social networking site but eventually, because of the traffic created by online sellers, Multiply became a good venue for start-up merchants. As for my case, Multiply became the key for me to break into this business. Four months after being an online seller, I appeared in my 1st ever TV guesting. But more months after that, I was invited to 5 more TV guestings. I was only able to appear in 3 shows though because I was based in Iloilo and only planned my trips to Manila every now and then. From there, I met a lot of contacts and had a broader network. So when I received a notice from Multiply a month ago saying "We will no longer be able to support our current format..", I instantly felt sad thinking that Multiply would dissolve all of a sudden. I didn't read the whole notice so I didn't really know what was going on. And then I received a call from the Multiply team inviting me to a mini get together with their team along with the top Multiply merchants and bloggers here in Iloilo (I was invited as a merchant). From the meeting I attended, I learned that they're actually changing their platform and not dissolving at all. HAHA. So from their previous social networking format, they're totally evolving into an e-commerce site. With that, Multiply will be the perfect venue for established brands, start-up merchants and the likes, transforming their current format to meet a buyer-and-seller-friendly format, partnering with payment systems and couriers. The new format will officially be effective starting December 1, 2012. Learning this gave me relief because I won't totally loose my files, contacts, and network after all but instead, it will even help me organize my online business. And with that, I can't wait to evolve with them. :)

What I've Been Up To

I just realized that I haven't updated my blog for the longest time now. Aside from the month long absence of my official photographer, I've been really busy with so many things. It's officially the start of the Christmas season and I can't believe how fast time flew. If I look back and think about what I've done throughout the months of this year, I can only pinpoint few of my tiny victories. So in my search for more opportunities, I applied to be part of Iloilo Designer's Week. Aside from my big dreams for Binkydoodles, I have bigger dreams for myself too. I want to be known as Binky Pitogo, the designer. But up to now I still feel awkward being called or calling myself a designer because I think that I haven't done enough to deserve such title and that I'm still in the long process of learning. So instead of calling myself a designer, I prefer saying that I'm self-employed. If people ask me more about being self-employed, that's when I start telling my story. Haha. Anyway, back to Iloilo Designer's week, it's a dream come true to be part of this event. And I'd say this will be the highlight of my year. I mean, every aspiring designer dreams of having his/her own fashion show, all the more when you'll be lined-up with well known designers. I did go through the process and I'm really thankful that I was selected to be part of this week long fashion event in Iloilo where guest designers from Manila will also participate. I'm really excited and looking forward to this event and for sure I'll be blogging about it too! But for now, to get more updates and news, just like Iloilo Designer's Week on Facebook through this link-- https://www.facebook.com/iloilodesignersweek

Trend Alert: Sports Jackets

The fun part in dressing up is mixing and matching clothes to come up with certain looks. A single item in your closet can even give you different looks depending on how you style it. The secret is to always start with a key piece, then from there you can build an ensemble depending on your personality or mood. To fully illustrate my point here, here are 5 different looks you can create using these ombre sports jackets from Binkydoodles as the key pieces. Which one is your favorite? J

Back to Basics

Every girl should have basic items stored in her closet for her lazy and busy days. I am such a sucker for these items that I have tank tops, tube tops, and bodycon skirts in all colors. I don't really know why but I'm always drawn to buying these things. Every time I feel too lazy to dress up, I just grab any basic item from my closet and throw on a cover-up or simply put on a sheer blouse with my bright colored tank top showing underneath. This kind of outfit can be a no brainer but it'll never fail to give you comfort and style. And because of my love for these basics, I thought of doing a basics collection for Binkydoodles. I know these aren't the typical kinds of basics but hey, this is basic, the Binkydoodles way. Haha. :)
