Morning Sun

If there's one thing I'm quite obsessed with right now, it would be back details. It's actually very evident in my recent designs for Binkydoodles. My love for back details started middle of last year but it just got stronger now that we're approaching summer. I wanted to try the trend myself so I had to take this dress with me to Boracay a few weeks back. This dress was just perfect for the morning sun. :)

What I Wore:

sunnies from Aldo,

Take Me Away

Woah, so I haven't updated this blog for more than a month now! I've been my busiest the past few weeks and I'm actually still loaded with too much work in the coming days. Someone else cared enough to give me a break so he took me away from work for a short vacation in one of my favorite places, the happy-sunny, BORACAY! So to make-up for the days that I have been MIA, here's a happy-sunny post for all of you. :D

What I Wore:
top and shorts from 168 Mall,
sunnies from Aldo,
bikini from Bangkok,
slippers from Payless,

Color Me Happy

I fell in love with this fabric the moment I saw it. If you've been following my blog, you'd know how much colors make me happy. I just find the colors in this fabric so yummy. It's a plus that the print is tie dye-ish. It's also very light and very soft that I thought it'd make the perfect summer top. This pretty trapeze top will be available in my next collection!

What I Wore:
top and necklace from Binkydoodles,
shorts, flatforms and sunnies from Forever21

Pretty Castaways- Binkydoodles Summer 2011 Collection

Summer has always been my favorite time of the year. Not only because of summer breaks from school, and family vacations or barkada escapades somewhere. Summer's just the time when I feel most free, although the feel of summer goes along all year round here in the Philippines. It is simply the most laidback season of the year, more than any other season there is.

Let me just share with you some of my favorite summer ad campaigns from Monsoon.

Now, here's Pretty Castaways by Binkydoodles and here are some of my favorite shots from our recent photoshoot for my Summer 2011 collection.. :)

Models: Marrah Trinidad, Fayne Conadera, Queene Gasataya

Things That Inspire Me

Yesterday, I met up with two of my friends Nychill and Hae who are both leaving the county tomorrow. Hae's going back to China while Nychill will be in Kuala Lumpur for 2 months. These hardworking girls inspire me to do better at what I do. They were the people whom I've shared most of my college days with. We used to spend as much time together back then but since we've all been busy with our lives, we only get to spend little time together. But I guess we were able to wrap everything up over dinner. I'll miss them both but I know it won't be long enough till we'd meet again. :)

After our early dinner we went to Rockwell Tent's summer bazaar. Here's a picture of Soak Swimwear's booth at the bazaar.

I bought a new bikini from Soak and clogs from Capital Vice by Soulier (both brands are locally designed and produced). Young designers and young entrepreneurs inspire me much!

I think I've been so inspired lately, that I actually consider doing my April collection all by myself. I'm almost done with school and I think after my Pattern and Sewing series from SoFA, I'd be ready to do my own collections. Of course I won't be able to do complicated styles yet but I would at least want to give it a try. Yesterday while checking my favorite blogs, I found this post from Keiko Lynn. I got so attracted with her outfit from her latest post that I went through her previous blogs and found out that she makes her own outfits too. She actually owns an online store where she sells her own creations. Like me, she also loves fashion but more than anything, she's also practical. And that inspires me even more. :)

Here's a picture of my friend Au in Panglao Island, Bohol. She's wearing one of my recent creations, an embroidered floral maxi dress. :)

To update you with what I've been working on lately, my summer collection for Binkydoodles will be out by next week. Here's the mood board which I'm looking at as our guide for our shoot next week. We'll be having "tribal-ish" printed maxi dresses, embroidered tube dresses and jumpsuits, floral and paisley polos, and silk cover-up dresses. Please watch-out for the release of the collection. :)

The Trend: Cropped Shirt

Cropped tops or cutoff shirts are one of the hot summer season's must haves. They are comfortable and easy to wear and are perfect for those who still want to stay stylish despite their busy and active lifestyles. These are very flexible pieces which works well with shorts, skirts, or even pants. Layering and accessorizing may also work in complimenting these summer basics. For those who are planning to travel and relax this season, don't forget to take at least a piece with you. Whether you're planning a beach, nature, or city trip, this will surely give you a break from your usual outfits. :)

I was at the fabric store to get some yards for my projects when I spotted this pretty shirt fabric. I bought 3/4 of a yard and made it into a cropped top as inspired by this trend. I wore it with a tank top inside since the fabric is see-through.

Our activity for the day was to pattern and sew clown pants. I opted for cotton linen since I wanted to make comfy pants that would at the same time look polished. Here's a sneak peak of what I made for the day. I'm making a top to match it. And I'll wear it too..... Soon.. :)
